Richard James Newsagents, in Finkle Street, Workington, has been told by Camelot, which runs Lotto, that the ticket was sold in the last three months.

The winner does not want publicity so the exact amount of the win cannot be revealed.

The shop first gained the title of luckiest shop in Cumbria in 1999.

It has since sold many winning tickets, including a £200,000 Euro Lottery ticket in the last 18 months and a £50,000 scratch card.

Owner Richard James, 69, said: “It’s brilliant to sell another winning ticket.

“We are one of only a few shops that has two lottery machines. we have got so busy from people buying the tickets we had to get another machine about five years ago.

“When people see it on our banner outside it’s surprising how many are lured in after they have driven past.

“We have thousands of people who come in for their lottery tickets every week. It is brilliant for the business.”
