BENDER: Tom Pardini takes a free kick for FC32 against Cockermouth in the ISS Waterers Peter Dawson Benevolent Cup

The ISS Waterers Benevolent Cup was renamed in the 2007/08 season to incorporate the name of former Netherhall secretary Peter Dawson and since then Netherhall have won the trophy and want to continue doing so.

A repeat of last year’s final saw Netherhall go to Carlisle City and return home 5-0 victors.

Will Heaney lead the way with two goals with the others coming from Ben Byers, Karl Fillingham and Craig Johnston.

Netherhall will face Cockermouth in the semis on April 10. Cockermouth defeated FC32 2-1 in their quarter-final. Tom Pardini scored for the home side but strikes from Keith Skillen and Richard Williamson won the tie.

Longtown beat Frizington Whitestar by the same score. Craig Trembath scored from the spot for Frizington but Longtown’s Jamie Sharpe and Rob Prince had already scored.

Longtown will have a home tie in the semis against Wigton Harriers who defeated Aspatria. Stuart Waters and Shaun Rumney (2) sealed it 3-1. Aspatria’s consolation goal came from Ryan Irvine.

Tesco premier action saw Mirehouse claim two victories. Midweek they beat Bransty 3-2 and on Saturday Whitehaven AFC by the same score.

Bransty bounced back from that defeat with a 12-1 win over Whitehaven Miners at the weekend.

In Tesco division one there was a five-goal thriller at Cleator Moor, the home side beating Wigton Athletic 3-2.

Hearts of Liddesdale were 9-0 winners at home over Parton Utd Res while Parton’s first XI had better luck with a 4-2 victory over Silloth.

Windscale put on a game with South Workington at the last hour as South Workington’s scheduled opponents, Carlisle AFC, were in County Cup action against Workington Reds. Windscale won 3-2.
