A Dearham family who set up their own business less than a year ago have won the contract to build Keswick’s latest visitor attraction.
Lonsdale Building and Joinery Ltd has started work on a 100-seater café and ice cream kiosk at the entrance to Hope Park, near the Theatre by the Lake.
Brothers-in-law Steven Brown and Colin Graham started their own business, while Steven’s father Charlie helps out.
Steven, 33, and Colin, 36, started out as joiners and have spent the last 11 years as site managers.
They have completed several projects in Keswick and are known by architects and chartered surveyors.
Mr Brown said: “We owe a great deal to them for having faith in us, especially Robin Hayward, a chartered surveyor who has given us a lot of advice and work.”
The men were involved in the new building at Whinlatter Visitor Centre.
