A GALA day will be held in Cockermouth on Sunday, July 4 to help relaunch flood-hit businesses.
The Toy Shop, Fagans, The New Bookshop and Coffee ‘n’ Cream, on Main Street, and Merienda and No XVII, on Market Place, will take part in the event to boost sales in the town.
Jacy’s will reopen in Market Place and The Linden Tree will reopen on Main Street.
The shops will provide in-store entertainment and there will also be street entertainers and other activities.
A full schedule of events is still being drawn up.
Suzanne Elsworth, press officer for Cockermouth and District Chamber of Trade, said that some of the shops did not normally trade on a Sunday, but if the event was a success it would be repeated.
