A country house hotel is offering a family or couple affected by the floods the chance to win a three-night Christmas break.

Staff at Dunsley Hall Hotel, near Whitby, decided to do something to help the families who will not be spending Christmas in their own homes.

The break, from December 24 to 27, will also include meals at the hotel.

Proprietor Bill Ward said: “Like everyone else watching the news of the flooding in Cumbria unfold, we were very shocked and felt deeply sorry for those people whose homes and businesses have been ruined, especially this close to Christmas.”

Anyone interested should write to the hotel owner with their story by December 13, where a winner will be selected at random by staff.
