I am not under pressure says Workington Comets’ Craig Cook

Workington Comets' new number one Craig Cook insists the pressure is off ahead of tonight’s massive match with league favourites Birmingham.
The in-form star, who has taken over top spot from former captain Andre Compton, admits he doesn’t know what to expect from leading the team but is relishing the chance.
He said: “Birmingham are my favourites to win the league. They are the best side we’ll face but I’m in great form so there’s no reason why I can’t score highly.
“Derwent Park is my track and it’s exciting to be setting off in heat one. I know the conditions but I don’t know what to expect from leading the side out.
“The pressure is off me. I’m just going to go out and get my job done.”
The 23-year-old has had a hectic season, riding in the Elite League for Peterborough and the National League for Buxton.
He said: “I don’t think I’ve gone four days without a break this season. It’s been mayhem at times but racing keeps me focussed and that can only benefit the Comets.
“I like to make sure that I am in top condition and by racing for other teams, I am learning more and more.
“It’s been a crazy season for me. I started off as reserve and worked my way into the side.
“It wasn’t easy because we have some great riders here but I just kept on trying to improve my game and so far it’s worked.”
Comets’, who lie in sixth place in the Premier League, host Birmingham at 7pm tonight at Derwent Park before travelling to Newcastle tomorrow night.
