KESWICK Show organisers are hoping that this year’s event will go ahead after being cancelled for the past two years due to bad weather.
Secretary Judith Hildreth said that the show, at The Crossings Field, High Hill, on Monday, could attract up to 10,000 visitors.
She added that there had been 900 entries in the show jumping, sheep classes and sheepdog trials.
“We’re hoping that everything goes ahead this year because we have had to cancel the event for the past two years,” she said.
“The show is on the edge of town, which I think attracts more visitors, not just from the area but outside of the area, she said.
“Our special event this year is a wild west show from Wales who will perform at around 3.15pm after the grand prize presentation.
“We also have someone from the committee shearing alpacas and llamas throughout the day.
“There will also be 60 trade stands and 26 arts and crafts stands.”
The event starts at 8.30am and pony classes, show jumping, dog trials and trade stands begin at 9am.
The poultry tent, sheep classes and sheepdog trials will start from 10am.
An industrial tent, which will feature home baking and handicrafts, will open at 1pm. The presentation of prizes will take place at 2.15pm and the show will be rounded off with pony games at 4pm.
Tickets cost £5 per adult, £1 for children aged 11 to 16 and £3 for senior citizens.
