Keswick Choral Society

A new season for the society is underway with an opening performance of Handel's Messiah beginning the 2008-9 season this year.

The first concert they will be involved in will be a performance on Saturday 18th October in St. John's Church in Keswick. handel's Messiah will be performed with the Cumbrian Rural Choirs.

Concert singers from all over Cumbria will join together to take part with the direction of internationally known conductors. This season, Simon Wright will conduct.

The Keswick Choir will perform their first individual work with their popular Christmas concert on December 20th singing Benjamin Britten's Saint Nicholas with more familiar Christmas Carols for the audience to join in with. Their spring concert is to include Haydn's Nelson Mass and Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise.

The Choral society performs a wide range of classical and modern choral music and runs a varied social programme of events. The mixed voice choir of forty five singers of all ages are always on the look out for new talent 

Budding singers will have their chance to meet the group on Tuesday evenings, Spetember to April from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. The practice takes place in the Crosthwaite Parish Room under their director, Ian Hare, the organist of Crosthwaite Church.
