New commander for Keswick army cadets
Last updated at 10:22, Saturday, 25 April 2009
Lieutenant Christine Sidorowicz has taken over as officer commanding the Keswick detachment of Cumbria Army Cadet Force.
Christine is an experienced officer who formerly commanded the Cleator Moor unit.
Keswick was the first unit in Cumbria to accept female cadets. Now that there is once again a female officer, it is hoped that a number of Keswick girls will volunteer to serve.
Lieutenant David Watson, formerly in charge of the Keswick cadets, is being posted to Chindit (West Cumbria) Company headquarters where he will carry out administrative duties.
David has served in the Keswick unit for 33 years, starting off as a 14-year-old cadet.
He was appointed as an adult instructor in 1978 and commissioned in 1982.
As Keswick is one of the oldest units in Chindit Company, David will continue to take an active interest in the detachment.
