Runners do the Loop

THE popular Latterbarrow Loop fell race goes ahead tomorrow lunchtime.
The excellent 2.5-mile horseshoe gets underway at 12noon from the Lowther forestry gate on the Ennerdale-Calderbridge fell road.
Many local runners have tasted victory at Latterbarrow, including course record holders Alan Bowness (21.45), and Laura Park (26.32).
Other winners are Gavin Bland, George Crayston, Jackie Hargreaves, Rickie Lightfoot, Martin Amor, and Andy and Sharon Schofield.
There are checkpoints on Latterbarrow, Roylan, and Swarth Fell, as well as two crossings of the river Calder en-route.
A short two minute stroll from the start venue over to Swarth Fell summit will offer spectators a superb view of the whole route.
Local club Cumberland Fell Runners are hosts and race organiser Harry Jarrett is looking for a good turn-out from fellow members.
The Loop is the fourth counter in the 12-race CFR club championship.
CFR junior co-ordinator Bobby Riley is organising plenty of junior races starting at 1pm. There are events for U10s, 12s and 14s boys and girls.
