LAKES College beauty students kicked off the New Year in style following a five-day trip to New York.
The “opportunity of a lifetime” saw 13 level 3 beauty therapy students take a trip to the Big Apple this month to help them learn techniques as part if their course.
The students visited international beauty company Lancôme where they took part in a seminar on make-up and facial techniques, toured the firm’s store and got a sneak peak at its new products.
Lorraine Roberts, beauty therapy tutor at the college, said: “This is a once in a life time opportunity for the students, it will enhance their retail selling techniques and they will get the opportunity to do things that many people only dream of.”
Beauty student, Jessica Murdoch, 17 from Workington, said: “I have never been abroad before so I have had to apply for a passport. It is all very exciting I cant wait.
“The trip will enable me to improve my facial and makeup techniques and give me new ideas on my course.”
