Tangerine dream theme in football

THIS column is going to have a rather large tangerine theme to it this week.
Blackpool’s promotion to the big league was one of the greatest fairytales in modern day footy.
It eclipses the achievements of Hull and Burnley and it’s all down to one man.
Ian Holloway, who was on the football scrap-heap 12 months ago, has single-handedly masterminded their assault on the Premier League.
They beat Notts Forest at Notts Forest to make the final and showed their resilience to brush past Cardiff.
To come from a goal down twice in a Wembley final and sneak victory was incredible.
Charlie Adam has been the main man in the middle of the park and his inch-perfect free-kick was the catalyst to those tangerine scenes of celebration.
Holloway jokingly said this week that he was aiming for the Champions League within two years.
Striker Ben Burgess suggested they could go one better and land the Premier League title next year.
These suggestions are wide of the mark but with confidence levels that high they could well be the surprise package next year.
JOSE Mourinho’s much anticipated move to Real Madrid finally became a reality this week.
The Special One has now achieved his life-long ambition, but I doubt it will be easy.
In Barcelona he has a vicious enemy that can thwart his bid for success.
I’m sure it will come, but perhaps not as instantaneously as both he and Real president Florentino Perez would like.
