TWO Maryport shops will close at the end of next month.
Florists Root 66 on Senhouse Street and craft and toy shop Be2Create, on Crosby Street, will shut in about four weeks.
Tanya Anderson, who has owned Be2Create for two years, said it was costing her money to open.
She added: “I cannot afford to keep going in this economic climate.”
Mrs Anderson said she had diversified her stock to keep going and bought toys to sell for under £10, which she thought would suit the Maryport market, but it looked like people did not have money to spend.
She is holding a clearance sale and will shut the shop for good as soon as the stock runs out.
Nicola Kerr, who owns Root 66, declined to comment on her shop’s closure. It has been open in Maryport for about three years.
